Vice President, Prototype, Test, & Evaluation

Dan Shafer is the Vice President of the Prototype, Test, & Evaluation Division at CFD Research, where he leads the division’s technical strategy, operations, personnel development, and customer engagement to support its continued growth and innovation.

Dan brings over 30 years of experience in the aerospace and defense industry, with a strong background in test operations, machining and prototyping, program management, and executive leadership across both government and commercial sectors. Before joining CFD Research, he served as Site Director at Blue Origin, where he led more than 300 engine tests on the BE-3 and BE-4 propulsion systems at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center.

Earlier in his career, Dan held senior leadership positions at Lockheed Martin, managing large, multi-site teams and driving complex national security programs.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Rochester Institute of Technology, a Master’s in Engineering Management from the University of Central Florida, and completed post-graduate studies at Old Dominion University.
