CFD Research has filed over 95 patents with the US Patent Office. We have several joint patents with the US Government, including Los Alamos National Laboratory, Lawrence Livermore National Lab, NASA, US Army, and Centers for Disease Control (CDC). Six (6) patents have been assigned to our customer partners, and 60 patents have been licensed to global organizations with royalty provisions for CFD Research.

Third Party (Licensed) Products

The following products are based on our licensed patents:

  • One hemodialysis catheter patent has been FDA approved and licensed to biomedical device company for treatment of kidney dialysis patients. The catheter was developed under an NIH SBIR project.
  • Two (2) fuel injector patents have been licensed/sold to aircraft engine manufacturer. The technology was developed under NASA SBIR Programs.
  • Twelve (12) patents for 3D printing of electronic circuits on large and curved surfaces (e.g. solar panels, LCD screens, IoT sensors on turbine blades) have been licensed to manufacturer of printed electronics equipment. This technology has been developed under DARPA SBIR and BAA Programs.
  • One geothermal energy patent has been licensed and assigned to a startup company with CFD Research owning an equity stake in that company.
  • Twenty-three (23) patents for organ-on-chip technology have been assigned to Synvivo, Inc., while another 4 patents have been licensed to SynVivo.  SynVivo is a microchip platform for study of cellular behavior, drug delivery and drug discovery, and has been recognized as one of the “Top 10 Innovations” by The Scientist Magazine.   • Three (3) patents for novel cathode/electrolyte materials in thermal batteries (for missiles) have been licensed to thermal battery company. This technology has been developed under Army SBIR Program.
  • One Cyber Security software patent has been licensed to SemanticGuard, Inc. Patent was developed as part of an Army SBIR Program. For more information, please visit www.semanticguard.com
  • Eight (8) drug discovery patents have been licensed to PoP Therapeutics. The patents were developed as part of DoD and NIH SBIR programs.
  • Three (3) medical diagnostics patents have been licensed to Ranalia Biotech. The patents were developed as part of a DHA SBIR program.
  • One Eczema bandage patent has been licensed to Kalm Therapeutics. This patent was developed as part of an NIH SBIR Program.
