
Vice President, Midwest R&D Center
Darrell Phillipson is the Vice President of the Midwest Research and Development Center and Deputy for the Intelligence, Software, & Sensing Division at CFD Research. In this role, he leads operations and P&L strategy for the Midwest Research and Development Center, overseeing key functions including facilities, security, community engagement, and employee development to support continued growth in Dayton, Ohio, and Huntsville, Alabama.
Darrell brings more than 30 years of science and technology leadership experience spanning both government and industry. Prior to joining CFD Research, he served as Director of the Materials and Manufacturing Directorate at the Air Force Research Laboratory, where he managed a budget exceeding $230 million and led a workforce of more than 1,100 personnel. His background includes managing large-scale research and development portfolios and leading cross-sector collaborations to advance next-generation technologies.
He holds a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Arizona State University and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the United States Air Force Academy.
