CFD Research Opens Engineering Test Center in Hollywood Alabama

CFD Research Corporation, a provider of innovative solutions for the Aerospace & Defense, Biomedical & Life Sciences, and Energy & Materials industries, recently held a ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony for their new and expanded Engineering Test Center at the Jackson County Industrial Park in Hollywood, AL. The new 13,125 square foot building is located on 10.4 acres in the Jackson County Industrial park in Hollywood, AL. The building also contains 3,750 square feet of office and meeting space and 7,500 square feet of high bay space for prototyping and testing.

CFD Research awarded FDA grant to study bioequivalence of ophthalmic drug products

CFD Research was recently awarded a $400k research grant addressing the critical need for the development of computational tools to translate preclinical testing results from animals to humans for ophthalmic drug products. This project will provide researchers with a better understanding of the specific differences between animal and human eyes that result in differences in ocular drug distribution.

CFD Research awarded Army contract to develop model order reduction-based solver for thermal signature analysis

CFD Research has been awarded a $1M Army contract to further develop an innovative Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Machine Learning (ML) based computational tool for accurate and rapid prediction of transient turbulent flow, heat transfer and thermal signatures. The survivability of military vehicles and their occupants often depends on efficient control of their thermal infrared (IR) signature as IR emissions, stemming from the thermal load, of military vehicles are used to detect, track, and lock-on to the target. Thermal modeling is typically used in order to predict and achieve performance goals related to the control of IR signatures.

CFD Research awarded Air Force contract for aeroelastic analysis of threat-damaged flight surfaces

CFD Research Corporation announced today the award of a SBIR Phase II contract from the Air Force to create a novel, efficient, and accurate fully-coupled modeling approach for the aeroelastic analysis of threat-damaged flight surfaces. One of the key aircraft design requirements is aircraft survivability and vulnerability to damage caused by a variety of threat types. Damage which results in the physical removal of a portion of a wing or primary flight control surface undoubtedly leads to a reduction in aerodynamic performance and control degradation.

CFD Research Holds Groundbreaking for New Laboratory Addition

CFD Research Corporation, a provider of innovative solutions for the Aerospace & Defense, Biomedical & Life Sciences, and Energy & Materials industries, held a Groundbreaking Ceremony for their new Laboratory Building. The 13,265 square foot building will be located on the CFD Research Headquarters campus in Cummings Research Park, Huntsville, AL. The facility will expand CFD Research’s laboratory space for current capabilities in biomedical and energy research and development and provide new capabilities to support growth in electronics, virology, and biomechanics.

CFD Research awarded DTRA chemical warfare agent research contract

CFD Research has received an award from the Defense Threat Reduction Agency to explore mechanisms, countermeasures and interventions for chemical warfare exposure. Chemical Warfare agents cause catastrophic medical disasters and have the ability to overwhelm any healthcare system. Extremely toxic, inexpensive and relatively easy to produce, these agents induce common cellular, molecular and inflammatory pathways resulting in acute inflammation, toxicity, and ultimately organ failure. CFD Research has a two-fold goal two-fold goal of identifying interventions nodes among the common inflammatory pathways while furthering identification of FDA approved drugs against these nodes. Known drugs will also be checked for their possibility in being a therapeutic target.
